A Mobile Application to Help Youth in Crisis.
Mellow aims to have a positive impact on the journey of users trying crisis managing. This app is able to digitally engage users with Holistic Crisis Planning and improve community connections and successfully lookup resources right at their fingertips
In 2012, 10.1% of Canadians aged 15 or older reported symptoms consistent with at least one of six mental health disorders. Mellow is an app to help youth deal with crisis in the Peel Region in Ontario – which has a highly diverse population.
We define crisis as any overwhelming situation that causes a youth emotional or physical distress where they feel unable to cope. The app is being created by students from the Interaction Design and Development program in collaboration with youth and communities in Peel, and with input from friends, family, service providers, and partner organizations. The team worked closely with the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH), and with CoDesign, a consultancy that facilitates collaborative projects between design students and communities.
