Simone Giostra graduated from the Polytechnic School of Architecture in Milan, where he earned a Master’s Degree in Architecture in 1996.

He is a member of the American Institute of Architects and the founding partner of Simone Giostra & Partners, a New York-based office dedicated to the investigation of architecture, energy technology and the environment.

Mr. Giostra has lectured extensively in Europe and the US, most recently at the “SOM Lecture Series” and the “Feltman Lecture” at Cooper Union in New York, at the Polytechnic School of Architecture in Milan and at the “View Conference” in Turin, Italy.

His work has been exhibited widely, including at the DAZ – German Center for Architecture – in Berlin, the Festival of Creativity of Florence, and at the Cooper Hewitt Design Museum in New York, and it was published in several books and journals including: The New York Times, The Washington Post, CNN, Architectural Record, A+U, Detail Magazine and Metropolis. He was the recipient of the Archi-Tech Award, the Boston Society of Architects “Sustainable design award”, a finalist of the World Architecture Festival and the Zumtobel Award in 2008.

Since 1998 Mr. Giostra has been Guest Critic at Cooper Union, Columbia University, Pratt Institute and City College in New York, and at the Polytechnic School of Architecture in Milan. Currently, he is Associate Professor at the PRATT Institute in New York and a Visiting Professor in the Master Program for Landscape Design at the NABA Academy in Milan.

Dr. Ron Dembo is the Founder and CEO of Zerofootprint, an organization dedicated to a mass reduction in our collective environmental impact.Zerofootprint provides software and services to individuals, governments and corporations that measures and manages carbon footprint, and engages employees and citizens worldwide in combating climate change.

Dr. Dembo is also the founder and former CEO and President of Algorithmics Incorporated, growing it from a start-up to the largest enterprise risk-management software company in the world, with offices in fifteen countries, over 70% of the world’s top 100 banks as clients, and consistent recognition as one of Canada’s top 50 best-managed companies. Prior to this, he had a distinguished ten-year career at Yale University, where he was cross-appointed in Computer Sciences and Operations Research.

In 2007, Dr. Dembo was made a lifetime Fields Institute Fellow. This fellowship is awarded to individuals who have made outstanding contributions to the Fields Institute, its programs, and to the Canadian mathematical community. He has authored over sixty technical papers on finance and mathematical optimization and three books, and holds a number of patents in Computational Finance and Software for Climate Change.

He currently sits on a number of boards, and is a member of the Climate Change Adaptation Advisory Committee Canada and the UN HABITAT World Urban Campaign.
